Where has Cameron ever said he favours school choice? He has several times implicitly denied it to all except his best, ie rich, friends. Choice demands more, smaller schools in each area and a good public transport system for starters. None of that currently exists.

Derek –
In fact, school choice is one of the Conservatives' main priorities. Schools reform was the subject of their first policy green paper (https://www.conservatives.com/getfile.cfm?file=Newopportunityproof&ref=GENERALFILE/3585&type=pdf) – and has featured heavily in speeches from Cameron, Osborne and Gove. In a nutshell, their policy amounts to massively expanding the government's academies programme. Charities, school federations, not-for-profit trusts, co-operatives and groups of parents would be able to set up 'independent' schools within the state sector, and parents would be free to choose between them and existing schools. Cameron's Conservatives' aren't perfect, but they've got their schools policy absolutely right. Write comment
