Apparently we now live in a country where opposition members of parliament can be arrested by counter-terrorism police for holding the government to account. It is things like this that really bring home the sickening reality of what the current government has done to this country. If it turns out they knew about Damian Green MP's arrest in advance, then they really are beneath contempt. Anyone who values freedom should be disgusted by this latest step along the road to serfdom.

Official Secrets Acts has no purpose, it is incredibly anti-democratic and undermines making the government accountable.

If only all leaks were so investigated. For example, from whom does the BBC's Peston get his inside information?

This is hugely significant in terms of fact, manner and political use of the police for political purposes. The denials by Brown and Smith hold no credibility whatsoever given the past form of the Labour Party on these matters-esp in the conduct towards those who have taken an interest Iraq, in the death of Dr Kelly, Sally Murer case or the Keogh case. They have encouraged our police to use the maximum amount of vehicles, personnel and force whilst exacting the maximum personal humiliation of the still innocent subject and family and usually under the full gaze of the press, night or day-though in case, we have so far not seen live pictures except for a pavement shot in Kent. This is intimidation of everybody. There is a spiteful malevolence at the heart of New Labour which has been scarcely examined by commentators. Nobody in our country should feel sanguine about this matter on any level.

Silencing opposition - the "politics" or fascism of New Labour?
Updated my blog. This is obviously the Policing we can now expect - the sort that does what the Government tells it. So expect that knock on your door if you dare oppose these pseudo nazis backed up by their own Stasi. Chris Close http://www.a-i-darlo.com
