The Adam Smith Institute is pleased to announce a discussion on Civil Justice Reform and the Rule of Law with leading experts Sir Edward Garnier and Senator Mike Lee. 

The event will be held on Wednesday 27th Novmember in The Churchill Room of Dartmouth House, Mayfair (W1J 5ED).  Doors will be from 7.00pm, with the discussion commencing at 7.30pm.

Sir Edward Garnier QC MP has a distinguished career both as a lawyer and a politician. He is a specialist in defamation and media law, having worked for The Guardian and recently represented Lord McAlpine against a number of libellous Twitter remarks. An MP since 1992 he has served as Shadow Minister for Justice and Shadow Attorney General, and between 2010 - 2012 was HM Solicitor General.

Senator Mike Lee is a US Senator for the state of Utah. He has worked as a constitutional lawyer and clerk for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. As well as his strong legal background, he is regarded as one of the most free market members of the Senate and was one of only two Republicans to vote against extending key parts of the Patriot Act in 2011.
