February's TNG speaker is James Bartholomew: banker-tunred journalist and author of 'The Welfare State We're In'.

First published in 2004, 'The Welfare State We're In' argued that however noble its intentions, the welfare state does more harm than good- with perverse incentives causing poor-quality public services, and the neediest trapped in poverty.

To co-incide with the release of a revised and updated edition of the book, Bartholomew will revisit the arguments which led to his conclusions and appraise what, if any, improvements subsequent reforms have bought.

Next Generation events are for those aged 16-30. RSVP to events@adamsmith.org or on facebook. As always, new faces are welcome.
