Adam Smith Statue

On the 4th of July 2008, the ASI unveiled the world's first major public monument to Adam Smith. Click on the image to find out more.

Tax Freedom Day

The UK's Tax Freedom Day fell on June 2 in 2008. That means that average Brits are spending more than five months of the year working for the Chancellor, rather than working for themselves. And when you factor in government borrowing the picture is even worse – Tax Freedom Day does not come until June 14. Click here to find out more.

Regulation

Over the last ten years there has been a striking boom in government regulation – which now consumes an estimated 10-12 percent of the UK's national wealth, measured as GDP. The ASI aims to highlight the worst excesses of bureaucratic red tape and excessive compliance costs in the UK. Click here to find out more about our regulation campaign.

The Next Generation

Our 'Next Generation' group serves as a meeting point for future leaders in business, journalism and public policy. Its meetings, which bring together like-minded individuals who are interested in free-market ideas, normally take place on first Tuesday of the month from 6pm until 8pm. Click here to find out more.
