The Next Generation is a network for libertarians under the age of 30. The Next Generation meets in Westminster most months. Its gatherings are welcoming, informal and fun. They are a great opportunity to learn more about libertarian ideas, meet like minded people, and get involved with the work of the Adam Smith Institute.
The typical format for Next Generation events is to have a two-hour drinks reception, punctuated by a 10-minute talk by 'whoever interesting is in town'. Recent speakers have included club-owner Peter Stringfellow, who talked about personal freedom, Spiked editor Brendan O'Neill, who blamed London's riots on the welfare state, and Tory MP Liz Truss, who distinguished corporatism from the free market.
In addition to its regular meetings, The Next Generation also hosts an annual summer party aboard a boat cruising down the Thames – an event which has become something of a Westminster institution. Next Generation members also get invited to many of the Adam Smith Institute's policy forums, lectures, and other public events.
