This includes harnessing nuclear energy and renewables to combat climate change, exploring mRNA vaccines to eradicate diseases, developing drugs to combat obesity, promoting vaping and heated tobacco as safer alternatives to traditional smoking, and leveraging Artificial Intelligence to revolutionise work, social interaction, and research methodologies.
Innovation thrives under a permissive regulatory environment
A forward-looking stance on innovation promotes an environment where individuals are free to pioneer, adapt, and share technologies without undue restrictions.
Rooted in the traditions of common law rather than legislation, this approach protects individual rights while allowing enterprises to grow and adapt through competitive solutions. Those advocating for constraints on innovation bear the responsibility to justify their stance.
Typically, the most robust solutions to potential challenges arise organically, shaped by hands-on experimentation and accumulated wisdom. Rigorous cost-benefit standards behind every intervention and industry-led regulations, such as the Bletchley Declaration should be part of the best practices.

On the 7th of November 2023, the ASI hosted the foundational meetings between policymakers, innovators, investors and historians to identify existing blockers to innovation and work towards pragmatic policy-enabled solutions.
Over the course of 2024, we are planning to host further, domain-specific conversations to identify specific policy initiatives to unleash the potential of AI, energy, healthcare sectors and more.
