David first joined parliament in 1987 and was the Minister of State for Europe under John Major, has been Conservative Party Chairman, the Shadow Secretary of State for the Office of Deputy Prime Minister, Shadow Home Secretary and more recently, Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union.
