Enlightenment Evening: Towards a New Sanctions Framework

  • Adam Smith Institute 23 Great Smith Street London SW1P 3DJ United Kingdom (map)

Join us for another Enlightenment Evening on Tuesday, 9th September for a discussion on the future of economic sanctions.

We’ll be discussing our recently released policy paper Financial Five Eyes: Towards A New Sanctions Framework.

As global politics becomes more unstable, enemies of liberty and progress seek to undermine liberal democracies. They're also finding new ways to circumvent economic sanctions, a core element in the toolkit of deterrence wielded by the UK. How can we innovate our sanctions regime to keep up with the times and keep our deterrents, well, deterrent?

We’re delighted to be hosting our panellists: the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Buckland KBE KC (former Lord Chancellor), Dr. Neil Shastri-Hurst MP (Conservative MP for Solihull West and Shirley) and Maxwell Marlow (Director of Public Affairs at the Adam Smith Institute).
