Freedom's Fighters with Allister Heath

  • Adam Smith Institute 23 Great Smith Street London United Kingdom (map)

In July, the ASI welcomes Allister Heath for our latest Freedom’s Fighters session. Allister Heath is the editor of The Sunday Telegraph, having previously worked as editor at City A.M., associate editor at The Spectator and has held many high-profile positions in the world of journalism. He is a prolific and widely respected writer who has been named as one of the ‘Top 100 Most Influential People On The Right' and won the IEA's Free Enterprise Award.

His first book A Flat Tax: Towards a British Model, advocated the position that a single tax rate across all those eligible is not just simpler but desirable. The book led to Allister serving as Chairman of the 2020 Tax Commission, investigating the ideal tax system for the UK.

Allister is a key voice arguing for free market ideas in public life and we look forward to hosting him.

Doors at the Adam Smith Institute open at 6pm, with networking drinks until 6.30pm when Adam Smith Institute President, Dr Pirie and Allister Heath will begin the interview, finishing at 7pm. While there is no formal Q&A there is an opportunity to ask questions after the event. Carriages at 7.30pm.

Freedom’s Fighters are one of our smaller events, with just 24 guests. If you would like to RSVP please do so by emailing events@adamsmith.org.

If you aren’t able to attend we’ll be filming the event and publishing these on our Facebook and YouTube pages. Previous talks with Lord Nigel Lawson, Daniel Hannan MEP, Guido Fawkes founder Paul Staines, economist Ruth Lea, and the IEA’s Mark Littlewood are all available to view.
