The Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall: Cold War relations, the “Brain Drain” from East Germany and the Wall as a physical symbol of ideological division and Communist insecurity.

Relevant for GCSE History (AQA & Edexcel):

  • Edexcel GCSE – Superpower Relations and the Cold War, 1941–91: study of the Berlin Crisis (1958–61) and the Berlin Wall’s causes, construction and impact on East–West relations in the Cold War. It is a core part of the Superpower relations period study (Paper 2, Option P4).
